What I like the most about this song is its energy and how warm it sounds, perfect for a drive or for those laid-back days at home alone with my thoughts. Those vocals are definitely a highlight of the song as they glide nonchalantly over the infectious production yet they are packed with so much soul and emotion that beautifully draw our attention to their storytelling. When I Wake Up is a relatable song about longing for someone you love and is wrapped around a memorable production that pairs intricate guitar riffs and punchy drums that start quite smoothly before building up in pace and energy to match the emotion of their storytelling. There's somewhat of late 90s vibes in this song that I really like and the guitar work is a pleasure to listen to.
