Stevie Ray Vaughan on a television screen changed the course of Nathan Bryce's life before he was even old enough to drive. He was thirteen, watching Austin City Limits with his dad, when "Texas Flood" hit him hard enough to set his whole future in motion. Three years later he had his first band, and decades of van rides, blues clubs, and a stint backing Australian guitar prodigy Taj Farrant later, he's still chasing that same feeling with Loaded Dice.

That history is all over "Panic Is the Norm," the band's new single with Australian keyboardist Clayton Doley. Doley's piano brings a wild Jerry Lee Lewis charge to the track, and Bryce's writing partner Candace Crockett fills it with lyrics pulled from her own life as a widowed mother who learned to keep moving instead of falling apart. The song doesn't ask for sympathy; it just runs, loud and a little ragged, exactly the way Bryce has been playing since he was a kid glued to that TV screen.
