Speaking about the song, Alice Gold said,

I wrote Both Hands after the pandemic, at a time when the world felt increasingly uncertain. There was so much anxiety in the air- climate change, political division, war, isolation- and I found myself questioning what really matters when everything feels unstable. The song came to me while walking through the Kent countryside and became a reminder that love is often the thing that grounds us when everything else feels chaotic. For me, it's about trusting your instincts, holding on to the people you love and finding your way back to what really matters.
