MACY Drops New Single ‘Can We Pretend’

British singer and songwriter MACY shares her brand new single Can We Pretend, a heartfelt piano-based ballad. 

 

Her first ever ballad, Can We Pretend is a personal song about holding onto someone who's already let go. A very relatable storytelling about struggling to realise the relationship has run its course, wanting to pretend things are ok and haven't ended. This message is beautifully conveyed through MACY's emotionally-charged vocals and haunting harmonies which soar effortlessly over a delicate piano-based melody that is seamlessly intertwined with subtle strings that come together to create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere packed with raw emotion and soul.

Speaking about the song, MACY said,

“Can We Pretend” is my first ever ballad — a super personal pop song about holding onto someone who's already let go. I wrote it thinking about how sometimes you just want to pretend things didn’t end, even if it hurts. Whether it was a friendship or a relationship, it’s about that moment when you’d give anything just to go back, even for a second. This one’s for anyone who’s ever missed someone that much.
