Memorial Share New Single ‘Silver’

Acclaimed alt-folk duo Memorial have just shared their brand new single Silver, the latest single to be taken from their upcoming sophomore studio album, Redsetter, set to arrive through Lucy Rose’s Real Kind Records (Bess Atwell, Samantha Crain) on May 10th.

This stunning gem follows on from the release of their hit singles Circle and Corduroy and, like its predecessors, effortlessly showcases the riveting indie-folk appeal they have been cultivating lately and that I adore! Silver is a tender piece of music that is brimming with raw emotion and soul from their soaring vocals and harmonies that instantly give me the feels. The song's rich and illuminating aesthetic effortlessly makes this quite a memorable listening experience with delicate acoustic guitar riffs being seamlessly paired with emotive piano keys and steady drum patterns creating such a heartwarming and comforting atmosphere with just the right amount of nostalgia and melancholia. This is one of those songs that I'd play when I want to be in touch with my emotions and just unwind after a stressful day.

Adding about Silver, they said,
Silver is about betrayal within friendships. This centres around how some friendships, particularly working relationships, feel so important that there can be a heavy focus on protecting it, which can lead to isolation. Being within that involves sacrifice in other important aspects of life such as romantic relationships, pastimes and opinions.
We witnessed a friend dedicate years of their life to a working friendship, which became an important part of their identity. We witnessed them exiled in absence of validity. We wrote from their perspective, adjusting to life outside of this group, the feeling of abandonment but also witnessing the power of their independence. It’s also about the support from a soulmate who provides a place of safety and stability that can’t be affected by any outside influence.
