Gold Spectacles Share New Single ‘PseudoFriends’

London-based collaborative multi-instrumentalist, songwriting and producing duo Gold Spectacles have just shared their brand new single PseudoFriends, the latest single to be lifted from their upcoming EP, More Heart Than Sense Pt. 2!

PseudoFriends is a bouncy number about people not being what you thought they were, a relatable storytelling that is backed by a captivating indie/bedroom pop production. I am really enjoying the smooth, expressive vocals and how they delve into the paradox of superficial connections that we often mistake for genuine friendships. In an era dominated by social media and digital interactions, the distinction between the bonafide and fraudulent can become quite blurred.

This storytelling is backed by a warm mellotron combined with playful guitar riffs and a weighty, hypnotic bassline that, along with the smooth vocals, create quite a warm, groovy atmosphere perfect for a laid-back day. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Gold Spectacles said,
We’ve been sitting on this one for a little while. The bassline came first. We spent a few hours jamming to it before we had solidified the lyric. The rest then followed pretty quickly. We had just got off the phone to an old friend who had been really let down by her mates and we wanted to write about this and the idea of not ever knowing who to put your trust in. Being burnt by who you think are dependable protagonists in your life is never fun. Don’t worry, they’re doing a lot better now!
