Heckyl Shares New Single ‘Free Falling Down’

Heckyl, the new project from British singer, songwriter and producer Luke Potter, has just shared his brand new single Free Falling Down, an infectious electro-pop song about how social media has contributed to a growing number of mental health issues.

Unlike its predecessors Side Where You Slept, Preacher and Stranger, Free Falling Down shows a darker touch to Heckyl's sound as it tackles important issues such as anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues. The song deals with the negative effects of social media on today's youth, as the series of filters and face/body-tuning apps have flooded social media, giving most of us a wrong idea of how one is supposed to look or act.

As always, I am a fan of Heckyl's vocals which glide effortlessly over the warm electronic production and beautifully convey the emotion of his honest and relatable storytelling. I am also very fond of how the chorus sounds perfect to sing along to and how the whole song gives me late night vibes, sounding perfect for an introspective drive at night in the city. Free Falling Down is yet another example of Heckyl's singing and songwriting abilities, wrapped around a warm electronic production that enhances the important issues of his storytelling. Have a listen to this gem below!

Speaking about the song, Heckyl said,
Free Falling Down is a song about the damage that social media does to today’s youth. We live in a world where everyone has the ability to judge each other through a screen, leading to more and more people dealing with anxiety and self-esteem issues.
