All The Queen’s Horses Shares New Single ‘Raised By Wolves’
All The Queen's Horses, the dark indie project by Irish singer and songwriter Sean William Murphy, has just shared his brand new single Raised By Wolves, the latest single to be taken from his upcoming debut album, The Dark Below & The Isle Of Dogs, set to arrive in September.
Part of his double single release, along with The Ides Of March, Raised By Wolves shows a darker and edgier sonority when compared with its predecessor. The song tells a story of someone that has been constantly let down and suddenly something changes and they're not accepting it, going very dark and no matter where they go their baggage comes with them. The production around this message is quite dark and mysterious, beautifully mixing folktronica and minimal cinematic rock elements with a groovy bass, guitar feedback and an intense sawing cello. Quite a complete 180º from The Ides Of March which beautifully showcases his versatility as an artist and I think you'll enjoy it too! Accompanying the release is a sombre, black-and-white music video that you can check out below!
Speaking about the song, All The Queen's Horses said,
The song tells the story of a person who experiences constant misfortune in life (I live in fire and there's no symmetry and there's no winning here) and of the people who should never have abandoned him. Their indifference towards him (when the storms came I'd stay out in the snow) and his incomprehension of how they can accept this so easily (I held on to Jerusalem with my arrow and my bow). This man is on a warpath against all those who have abandoned him, but loses the strength to continue fighting them (and I will follow you and I will follow them) and his world begins to come apart at the seams. Embittered by his years of neglect, he believes that the misfortune and suffering of others is not equal to his (their virgin chests swim near and there's no fitting in). The protagonist is portrayed as caustic, hostile and argumentative. His world collapses and he is poison to those around him.
