TENDER Unveil New Single ‘Closer Still’
London-based duo TENDER are back with a brand new single called Closer Still, taken from their upcoming album, Fear Of Falling Asleep, set to arrive on January 18th via Partisan Records. What drew my attention towards this song were the funky guitar riffs that promised a groovy cut and it sure is one. Closer Still's highly infectious melodies are packed with those funky guitar riffs, delicate and emotional piano keys and a cool percussion. What seal the deal for me was the smooth, dreamy vocals which highlight the song's brooding, chillout atmosphere.

Closer Still was released together with the title track Fear of Falling Asleep, which has a darker, more vulnerable vibe than Closer Still. I am loving both songs, but I've got to say that the funky guitar riffs of Closer Still make it my favourite. These are two amazing pieces of electro-pop music perfect for fans of Tame Impala and Black Keys. Accompanying the songs are 2 visuals directed by Sydney Emery, with photography by Hollie Fernando. TENDER consist of musical partners James Cullen and Dan Cobb, and together they co-produced Fear Of Falling Asleep alongside Gianluca Buccellati (Tei Shei, Colouring). The songs were recorded across the band’s respective bedrooms before adding finishing touches at London’s Hackney Road Studios. Inspired by the moments that come just before sleep when silence descends, and doubt and fear and desire take over, Cullen explains,
Lying awake at night, when it’s just me and my mind racing, that’s when I drift into the darkest parts of myself. Until I wrote these songs, I never really knew if anyone else struggled with those same thoughts and fears.
