Sonny Unveils New Single ‘Since We’ve Begun’
Following the acclaim of his debut single Princess’, today the 17-year-old soul singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sonny unleashes a second song from his upcoming EP with ‘Since We’'ve Begun’ via a stylish stripped-back live video, released on Never Fade Records (Gabrielle Aplin / Saint Raymond).
This gorgeous tune was co-written and produced by Rum and Bug. Loving the acoustic guitar! So sweet and tender tune which reaffirms Sonny’s raw talent and emotive flair, made all the more extraordinary by his young age. Taking inspiration from real-life experiences, Sonny fuses a modern soundscape of indie, folk, soul and R&B to create a poignant, impassioned ballad. He says:
Since We’'ve Begun is one of my favourite tracks on my EP and was written very quickly which is always a good sign! The song is about the early stages of love - that feeling you get when you are thinking of someone all the time.
Hailing from South Shields, Sonny’s clean-cut aesthetic and raw vocals were heavily influenced by his mother’s love for R&B and soul, and his singer/guitarist father’s adoration for folk and country.
Exposed to an impossibly broad range of genres from a young age, at 14-years-old Sonny started gigging around Newcastle, performing anywhere from bars to pubs and open mic nights. With consequently elevated performance skills despite his 17 years of age, the accompanying ‘Since We’ve Begun’ live session illustrates Sonny’s charm and effortless stage confidence.
‘Since We’'ve Begun’ is the second instalment from Sonny’s anticipated EP ‘Hopeless Romance’, which is due to be released on March 24th.
