London Porrasze Q&A
Miami's ulti-talented recording artist and actor, London Porrasze, started singing and composing his own music at a very young age. He also directed his own music videos and is a trained musician, he plays the tenor sax, the violin and acoustics. Born in Santa Monica, CA, London was raised between California and Miami and sings and composes both in English and in Spanish thanks to his Latin origins, through a Spanish mother, and a Sicilian father. With Latin , London started singing and composing his own music at a very young age. Earlier this month he has unveiled Tegan's remix of his new single First Time, which you can listen to below.

1. What made you want to follow music? Was it always the #1 thing you wanted to do for a living?
Yes, I knew music would be the #1 thing I wanted to do with my life. When I was kid growing up sometimes things at home weren’t so steady with my family, my only refuge was music. I would lock myself in the closet and sing for hours and it always made the pain go away. I knew one day I would want to make music that would influence the life of others emotionally and hopefully help them through their tough times the way many artist who I looked up too helped me through my struggles. Music saved my life and I owe it to the music to help others.
2. What song - out of the ones you already released/written - means the most to you? Why?
I would say my most recent release "First Time" I was going through a very difficult transition in my life in the city. I was really struggling with myself. I had just gotten out of a 3 year relationship and felt very lost. Things weren’t going so well and then out of nowhere someone appeared and gave me that little motivation and pushes to keep on fighting. I fell in love all over again a year later and it felt like the "First Time". Only I know the difficulties I went through that year before meeting this person, one day ill speak about it...But that struggle and meeting that person is what inspired this song and therefore making it a very important song to me.
Many artist inspired me, Growing up my mother had many great old records that I got my hands on very early in life...FleetwoodMac/ Stevie Knicks were a big influence. I wanted to make powerful music like them that could move people to tears the way their track "Landslide" did to me the first time i heard it when i was 10. I just started crying while listening to it. It was a very powerful experience. The King of POP, Micahel Jackson, that man would blow me away as a kid. his voice and even more the messages his songs provided. May of his tracks helped me while growing up in a shaky home. The Beatles , The Beejies, Janis Joplin, Prince, Kiss ....someone from the last decade though I Would have to say is Amy Winehouse...she’s is my all-time favorite artist. It still kills me that she is gone. She is still a major influence for me.
4. Are you planning any collaborations/duets?
Oh yes, amd I am very excited about that too. Not announcements on that yet but stayed tuned because big announcements coming soon!
5. With whom would you love to work with and why?
I would like to work with artist like FKA TWIGS Sia, The both blow me away. Both different and embrace it beautifully.
6. What has been the defining moment of your musical career so far?
Releasing my last music video for my song "First Time" was a big step for me. It’s the first video out of the one I've done that shows who i truly am an artist when it comes to music and visuals. Everything before was very pop and colorful...and that just wasn’t me. It was defining for me because the viewer’s really enjoyed and liked the real me. To see it spread all over all the world is pretty amazing. Just have to keep doing me.
I want to be inspired and motivated to be themselves and make a change in the world. I always looked up to Michael Jackson for that very reason, I wanted to be just like him in that sense, and through his music he made bold statements about change in our society. I want to inspire people and also let them know its ok "We are humans, who make mistake...most important thing is to always keep your head up high and keep fighting. I also want to really inspire other to follow their dreams and that’s my main priority. Without dreams we are nothing...I follow my dream every day and I want others to do the same.
8. If you were given the chance to pick one artist to tour with which one would it be and why?
Sia and FleetwoodMac! Sia, just because I feel like our music would just mesh very well together, shes strange, I THINK im strange and were not afraid to be strange. Her sound most importantly, Draws me in. FleetwoodMac, because i love them so much, I went to 2 of their shows in the last5 months...I waited my whole life to see them...best show ever! So inspiring and moving, definitely something Id like to be a part of.
9. What advice do you have for people who want to make it in this business?
Fight for you dream, people will close doors and shoot you down...for every 5 doors that close 1 will eventually open. Stay headstrong and don’t let anyone shape you. Be who you want to be and stay true to yourself. Everything will fall into place.
10. What artist are you listening to on your iPod?
haha. Currently listening to Crazy by "SEAL".
11. If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?
Easy. Eating
12. If you could only listen to one artist the rest of your life, who would it be?
FleetWoodWINEHOUSE, you see i tried to trick you into putting both names together as I cant choose one! FleetwoodMac and Amy Winehouse :)
13. Name five things you can’t live without?
Music, IPhone, My daily Kale and spinach with berries juice. That’s 3...I really can't think of more...isn't that strange? Guess I failed question 13. Next...
