ISQ Shares New Single ‘Angela’

London-based vocalist and songwriter ISQ has just shared her brand new single Angela, a smooth and warm alt-pop song.
Taken from her upcoming album The Silence is Deafening, out 23rd October, Angela finds the talented artist telling the story of a neighbour who sees the signs of abuse next door and feels powerless to intervene. It also reflects on the fact that leaving an abusive relationship is often the most dangerous moment for a victim.
A very powerful and relatable subject, Angela was inspired by the UK's "Ask for Angela" campaign and by conversations with a close friend who worked for the domestic abuse charity Refuge.
This message is beautifully conveyed through ISQ's rich, soulful vocals which are accompanied by a percussion-led pulse that is nicely intertwined with delicate guitar and bass strums, catchy rhythms and textures that come together to create an overall warm, laid-back listening experience.
Speaking about the song, ISQ said,
Many songs about domestic abuse focus on either the victim or the perpetrator but 'Angela' is about the neighbour, the friend or the family member who suspects something is wrong and isn't sure how to help. That ambiguity at the end reflects the reality faced by many survivors. Angela is both hopeful and tragic. It is a song about violence, but also about the possibility of freedom, survival and a future beyond abuse.
