Up-and-coming Nashville singer/songwriter Winston Liv (they/them) has just unveiled their brand new single Sugar Baby, a captivating indie-pop song about being taken advantage in a relationship.
The second single to be lifted from Winston Liv's debut album Joan of Snark, out on August 28th, Sugar Baby finds the talented artist singing about when you realise someone is more interested in your wallet than your company, calling out the dynamic without any real bitterness but with a witty approach. It's a fun and lightly sarcastic song about keeping your eyes open and your boundaries firmly in place, a message that is beautifully conveyed through Liv's rich, confident vocals which glide passionately over soaring guitar riffs, punchy drum beats and rhythms that come together to create an overall upbeat, feel-good indie-pop gem.
Speaking about the song, Winston Liv said,
I wrote the song ‘Sugar Baby’ about a friend I felt only wanted to hang out with me if I was the one paying for everything. I really valued our friendship to the point that I would turn a blind eye to them taking advantage of me.
