TWISTED chronicles the real life experiences that shaped Paytra after moving to New York City alone at just sixteen years old. It captures the reality of navigating one of the world's toughest cities as a young woman determined to build a life on her own terms. What started as a one way train ticket in pursuit of a dream quickly became an unpredictable crash course in survival, resilience, and self discovery. While the track embraces humour and self awareness, it also serves as a reminder that growth rarely happens in perfect conditions. 

 

This fearless, explosive gem is beautifully conveyed through Paytra's confident vocals which glide passionately over the infectious blend of pop, rock, and hip-hop elements. I am particularly fond of the driving bassline and how it is nicely intertwined with lush guitar plucks, punchy beats, intricate rhyme schemes, warm brass touches and rhythms that come together to create an overall upbeat, feel-good listening experience.

Speaking about the song, Paytra said,

People hear the short version all the time: I packed my bags at 16, moved to New York, worked hard, and made my dreams come true. But there was so much insanity behind the scenes. This song is my way of finally telling that story. I was a really shy and insecure kid. I spent so much of my life worrying about what people thought. Looking back now, I'm proud because I never let fear stop me from living the life I wanted. Even when things got messy, I always found a way forward. I hope people hear this song and realize they don't have to have everything figured out. Life gets chaotic. Sometimes it gets really messy. But there's always a path forward if you're willing to keep going.
