Cartel Vogel Shares New Single ‘Indigo’
His first release in five years, Indigo (co-written with Megan Winsor and Tommy Chambers) finds the talented artist detailing the end of a relationship with bittersweet longing and melancholia. A song packed with vulnerability and where the artist pours his heart out and gift us with a stellar, emotionally-charged vocal performance that enhances the raw emotion of his relatable and honest storytelling. I am loving the intimate atmosphere of the song and how its minimalist instrumentation, pairing soul-baring piano chords and subtle rhythms, makes Indigo a warm and memorable listening experience perfect for a laid-back weekend alone with my thoughts. Speaking about the song, Cartel Vogel said,
To me, the song is a reflection on a time I was torn between choosing love or choosing myself. I wanted to keep this song simple; it needed to be, that's why I stripped the production. It’s not perfect, it's vulnerable. I wrote the chorus for this song just a few days after my last conversation with my ex. I haven’t talked to her since. The song deeply reflects how I was feeling as our relationship came to a close.
