Tsar B Drops New Single ‘Amor’

Belgian artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Tsar B (Justine Bourgeus) shares her brand new single Amor, a stunning dark electronic pop record.

Loosely based on Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi’s arresting soprano solo Lamento della Ninfa (“The Nymph’s Lament”), Amor finds the talented artist singing from the perspective of the nymph, sharing a story of heartbreak for all that's happening in the world right now; an outcry for love. A powerful storytelling that is flawlessly conveyed through her hauntingly beautiful vocals which exude raw emotion and soul from start to finish. Backing her gorgeous vocals we have a dark electro-pop production with ominous rhythms nicely intertwined with subtle beats, chanting backing vocals, and rich electronic textures that create a powerful and haunting listening experience!

Accompanying the song, Tsar B shares its official music video, directed by Lennert Madou, which sees Tsar B mounting a gigantic animatronic bird – overlooking all the chaos and despair from a safe distance on top of her avian companion.

Speaking about the video, Tsar B said,
For the video, I once again collaborated with my visual husband, Lennert Madou. I compose soundtracks for his films, and he directs my videos. He deeply understands my concepts and ideas, which makes working together such a joy. The same masterful puppet makers I always work with created a gigantic bird. I fly on this 12-meter creature, overlooking the chaos and despair of the world. It feels strange—so absurd—to watch from a distance. The nymph has grown paralyzed and powerless from the suffering she is endlessly confronted with: flying, yet unable to descend. Though the imagery evokes something heroic and mythological, she has once again become an antihero. She cannot reach it. It feels like she’s on a futile quest.
