Maggie Andrew Shares New Single ‘Did You Cry’

Canadian alt-pop powerhouse Maggie Andrew shares her brand new single Did You Cry, a soaring alt-pop/rock gem about the heavy feelings of confusion that arise when you start questioning the reality of a past relationship.

Taken from her latest EP, HOW TO SING FOR MONEY, out today on turtlemusik, Did You Cry is a raw and personal piece of music that finds the talented artist being vulnerable and pouring her heart out as she sings about having her heart broken. A song about the aftermath of a breakup, when you start questioning the reality and feelings of a past relationship. I am loving the tone of her voice and how rich and passionate her vocal delivery is, soaring beautifully over killer guitar riffs, lush drum beats and rhythms that culminate into a high-flying chorus packed with energy and raw emotion!

Accompanying the release of this gem we have a captivating music video, directed by MOOSECANFLY, which beautifully embodies the song's message and aftermath of a breakup.

Speaking about the song, Maggie Andrew said,
‘Did You Cry’ came from a pretty raw and uncomfortable place for me. I wrote it with the two people who truly understand me — Carleton Stone and Kyle Mischiek — which made me feel safe to be vulnerable, and I think that’s why the song hits the way it does. I wanted to conceptualize the aftermath of a breakup. When you’re with someone and think you’re in love, it’s easy to make promises. The video represents running away from something—or someone—who turned out to be no good. By contrasting stillness with chaos, it captures the wreckage that comes from having your heart broken.
