Written alongside acclaimed writing duo Thank You Thank You and her former partner, Learning to Miss You finds the talented artist exploring the kind of grief that comes not just from romantic loss, but from the complex mourning of deep friendships. A relatable storytellig shaped by Grace Turner's deeply personal experience, Learning to Miss You pairs her emotionally-charged vocal delivery with a memorable production that come together to create an overall sad, melancholic atmosphere that got me hooked to it right after the very first listen. Speaking about the song, Grace Turner said,
I wrote this song after running into my ex-best friend at a show. Despite everything that went wrong, I suddenly missed him again. Later, when I recorded the vocals, my partner broke up with me right after the session. Those vocals, captured in the rawest moment, are the ones you hear on the track.
