meka Shares New Single ‘Temperance’

meka, the guise of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melissa Lingo, shares her brand new single Temperance, a nostalgic and soothing piece of 1960’s-70’s sweet, hazy folk music. 

 

Out now via Dumont Dumont, Temperance is taken from her upcoming debut album and finds the talented artist beautifully showcasing her sublime, expressive vocals over a sun-kissed and soothing production that won me over from the start. Temperance is a deeply personal song about loss, grief and the haze of memories all beautifully conveyed through meka's stunning vocals. Accompanying her gorgeous vocals we have exquisite strings nicely intertwined with delicate piano keys and bass that come together to create an overall warm and melancholic atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone.

Speaking about the song, meka said,

“The song is my attempt at explaining the haze of memory and desire to feel something other than numbness, after a loved one died suddenly. To cope, I clung to what made me feel alive: the most vivid memories of my former self which was in the process of a different kind of death. The first lines are the scene of my drive to my newly widowed friend, from north to south California during an historically devastating fire that turned the usual poppy-covered hills and orchards into ash.”
