Carson Hill Unveils New Single ‘Best Years’

Nashville-based singer and songwriter Carson Hill shares her brand new single Best Years, a radiant country-pop gem!

The title track of her upcoming EP, set to arrive on May 6th now on Sweet Caroline Records, Best Years is a song about navigating the dissonance between the tumultuousness of your mid-20s and everyone telling you these are the best years of your life. A relatable song that is beautifully delivered through Carson Hill's gorgeous, expressive vocals which exudes vulnerability and soul that just makes the song stand out even more. Backing her lovely vocals we have a captivating blend of classic country and americana with timeless pop elements. I am particularly fond of the pairing of lush guitar and banjo riffs with cool strings and steady drum patterns that create such a warm, comforting atmosphere perfect for a weekend home alone with our thoughts.

Speaking about the song, Carson Hill said,
‘Best Years’ was written early one morning in the coziness of my apartment. My twenty-fifth birthday was coming up and I had so many things happening in my life. Some were really wonderful and others were truly heartbreaking; friendships ending, family dynamics changing, new jobs, ending unhealthy habits, hustling with my music, being single and feeling lonely in a big city, but feeling free all at the same time. All of it was heavy on my mind. Everyone kept telling me I should just enjoy my 20s because these were the best years of my life, but I felt like I was drowning in all the changes happening. Everyone around me was in different, exciting life stages, but I just felt stuck. So much was unclear about my future and I felt like I was running out of time to accomplish what I wanted to in this life. The “best years” were starting to feel really dark. So, that early Tennessee morning, at my kitchen table with my guitar, I wrote the lyrics to this song. I had nothing on the horizon and I felt like I was slowly dying little by little, but somehow the words, ‘Things can only go up from here,’ poured out of me like a reminder that at the lowest, things can only get better. Confessional songwriting is what made me fall in love with music to begin with and that’s exactly what this song is, a personal reflection of who I am; sarcasm, fear, grit, and at the bottom of it all… an unrelenting hope that the best years are still yet to come.
