Karen-Lee Batten Shares New Single ‘The Trouble with Friends’

Award-winning Canadian country recording artist Karen-Lee Batten has just shared her brand new single The Trouble with Friends, an upbeat, toe-tapping Country-dance party song about how everything in life is better with friends.

Out now via KLB Records, The Trouble with Friends was co-written by Batten with the song’s producer Jeff Johnson (Madeline Merlo, Meghan Patrick), and finds the talented artist pairing a contemporary Country sound with her powerful, spirited vocal delivery and relatable storytelling. This is also the title track of her upcoming 4th studio album, due in 2024, and exudes carefree, feel-good vibes that make it perfect to be the anthem of a fun weekend out with friends. Apart from her rich vocals, I am particularly fond of the soaring guitars which are seamlessly paired with punchy drum patterns, culminating in a highly anthemic chorus perfect to sing along to. Check it out below!

Speaking about her new single, Batten says,

The premise is that friends never let you leave. You’ll show up to meet somebody for brunch and next thing you know, it’s last call and you’re surrounded by the rest of your regulars. In my experience, the ‘trouble’ with friends is that they are truly indispensable. Almost anything you can do in your life is going to be better with friends, and they are here to remind us to live a little and make the most of good company.
