Eighty Ninety Release New Single ‘Ruins’

Eighty Ninety — the indie-pop project of NYC-based brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James — are back with their brand new single Ruins, the opening track of their upcoming self-titled debut album set to arrive on December 15th!

Following a slew of singles - "The Hard Way," "Face Like a Sunset," "Stay Alive," and "2 Carat" - Ruins is another example of the duo's talent to deliver dreamy and emotional pieceos music wrapped around a textured indie-pop production. I am a fan of Abner's hauntingly beautiful vocals which exude raw emotion and vulnerability, effortlessly capturing our attention to their reflective storytelling.

This is a song about the what ifs in life, the pain of missed opportunities and things we wished we said but didn't. I am a man that lives perpetually in a "what if" state and I can perfectly relate to this song which is backed by a dreamy indie-pop production which pairs intricate acocustic guitars with steady drum patterns, layered harmonies and airy atmospherics that create a sun-soaked, laid-back vibe that reminds me of reflective summer days.

Speaking about the song, Eighty Ninety said,
'Ruins’' is a reflection the past, the choices we didn’t make and the 'what ifs’'that still linger. We wanted to capture the ache of those missed opportunities and unspoken words, and to reflect on our youth and the ruins we all carry with us. The rest of the album also explores how we shape our lives on the foundations of those ruins and their enduring impact on who we become.
