Tre. Charles Shares New Single ‘Memory.’
North Carolina singer, songwriter, musician, and producer Tre. Charles has just shared his brand new single Memory., the latest singtle to be taken from his debut EP, Currently. which is out now.
What I like the most about this song is its smooth, chilled out atmosphere that makes it perfect for a reflective day home alone. Memory. touches on the ideas of confinement that society, peers, and ultimately we(ourselves) put on ourselves. This track is about the identifying and breaking free of those constraints. This message is beautifully delivered through his lush vocals which are backed by a captivating blend of alt-soul and R&B soundscapes with ambient, lo-fi pop sensibilities. Check it out below!
Speaking about the inspiration behind his Currently. EP, Tre. Charles says,
There’s strength in vulnerability, but a lot of times, we don’t give each other the room we need to be vulnerable or flawed, because it might not be seen as ‘cool’, and that amplifies the negative narratives, and reinforces old tropes that are not helpful to our growth. I think in order to move forward, we need to let go of control. This project is more of a journal of where I am right now in my healing process, and it highlights these nuances through a lens of vulnerability, with the aim of bringing honesty and insight to the forefront of the conversation, which will hopefully inspire and sustain growth.
