Dkizz Shares New Single ‘My Lady’

Birmingham-based Nigerian afropop sensation Dkizz has just shared his brand new single My Lady, an upbeat afropop/electro-pop song taken from his forthcoming debut EP, Sabi Boy, which arrives this summer via Be83 Music.

Written and composed by Dkizz, with production from Godfather Beats and Rufus Production, My Lady is an exciting dance floor filler driven by lush drum arrangements and organic piano chords that highlight the song’s amapiano and afrobeats sensibilities. I am really enjoying Dkizz's smooth, honeyed vocals which are packed with soul and confidence, gliding effortlessly over the infectious melodies. This is a song perfect for a carefree summer as its groovy rhythms ooze so much warmth and laid-back vibes! Accompanying the release, Dkizz shares the Chidi Azikiwe-directed visuals that beautifully embody the song's atmosphere. Check it out below!

Speaking about the inspiration behind My Lady, Dkizz says,
I wrote ‘My Lady’ last summer, after I had just come out of a ‘situationship’ with someone that was pretending to be the best person I could have ever met. It was a hell of a ride, and we didn’t quite work out, but it showed me what I really want in a relationship, and that’s what birthed ‘My Lady’. Godfather Beats and I went back and forth trying to find the proper sounds to bring out the emotions I was feeling at the time, as I wanted to write a soulful song that could be also played in the club. I’m just so happy that people are dancing to the song all over TikTok, even though it was inspired by one of my worst relationship experiences.
