Lucy McWilliams Shares New Single ‘Slow Dancing’

Emerging Irish singer and songwriter Lucy McWilliams has just shared her captivating new offering Slow Dancing, her first single of the year.

Out now via AmperSounds, Slow Dancing continues Lucy McWilliams' heartachingly beautiful approach to songwriting, pursuing a warm yet solemn sound this time around. Slow Dancing is a relatable song that addresses themes around loneliness and isolation at its core, showing that sometimes is easier to be intimate with people you don't know.

I am a fan of her gorgeous vocals and that subtle raspy touch that enhances the emotion and vulnerability pouring from her delivery. The whole atmosphere of the song is quite warm and comforting, with touches of melancholia that are enhanced by the delicate piano keys which are paired with intricate guitar plucks, lush strings and rhythms. This is one of those songs that I'll definitely be playing on repeat, sounding perfect for my reflective days home alone. Have a listen to this gem below!

Adding about Slow Dancing, she said,
The song is about exploring loneliness and what you drive towards whilst in it. It’s about finding comfort in intimacy with strangers. I guess it’s easier sometimes to be close to people you don’t know and don’t really want to explore. Something blocks you from reality because they are not in your world and won’t ever be. Painting a picture of the life we want people to see and how we want to be perceived. It’s a lot easier to keep up a front if you never let people in.
Lucy McWilliams is also set to embark on a number of live performances across the UK and Ireland later this year including her debut headline show in Dublin, and supporting Two Door Cinema Club in Dublin. Full list of shows can be found below.
