Joy Autumn Shares New Single "In Bloom"

L.A.-based alternative-pop singer/songwriter Joy Autumn pays tribute to her local songwriting hero Kurt Cobain with a stunning folk rendition of In Bloom, which arrives today, the first day of Spring.

What I like the most about this version is its warmth and laid-back vibes that sound quite soothing and comforting. This cover is taken from a folksy and ethereal Nirvana cover album that finds the talented artist picking songs Cobain wrote during his Olympia years at 114 Pear street, just two miles from her childhood home. I am really enjoying her lush vocals and dreamy harmonies that glide effortlessly over intricate acoustic guitar melodies and delicate strings that together create the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing, reflective day. Speaking about the cover, Joy Autumn said,
“In Bloom” is one of my favorite Nirvana songs. Kurt wrote it a couple of miles from my childhood home in Olympia, WA in 1990, and when I found myself once again living at home during the pandemic, I recorded the song in my childhood bedroom. I’ve always wanted to do a tribute to my local songwriting hero, and honor him for the way his music has inspired and changed my life.
