Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Gyasi Ross has just shared his powerful and emotive new single Different. 

 

What I like the most about the song is how soulful and expressive Gyasi's vocals sound, soaring beautifully over the captivating blend of pop, rock, r&b and soul elements. Different tells the compelling story of a young black kid, growing up with the racial and cultural tensions typical in urban USA. A personal story, Gyasi uses his lyrical acoustic hip-hop style to paint a picture of his life, while building the tension that he felt as the song progresses into an earthy and soulful tune with a rock edge. I am particularly fond of the burst of energy and emotion with the soaring guitars and punchy drums that create an overall empowering, feel-good atmosphere. Check it out below!
