Amber Westerman Shares New Single ‘Sunflowers’
Nashville-based singer and songwriter Amber Westerman has just shared her brand new single Sunflowers, a heartwarming piece of Americana music out now via Plants For President.
Written with her friend Scott Buchholz, Sunflowers was originally written about chasing dreams, but now takes a new interpretation as it is released as a tribute to her grandfather whom she recently lost. Amber's grandfather Bobby Northcutt was a lifelong inspiration to her, being a talented multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Sunflowers was actually the last song she played to him while she visited him at the hospital and he asked her if the song was about going to heaven. Quite a heartfelt piece of music with Amber's vocals soaring beautifully over intricate guitars, steady drum patterns and delicate piano keys that enhance the emotion pouring from her vocal delivery. Speaking about the song, Amber Westerman said,
As hard as it is to lose him, I am grateful that he is out of pain and in a better place. He created an entirely new meaning to “Sunflowers” for me, so I decided to record and release this song as a tribute to him. When I sing it, I feel like the lyrics are him speaking to me, continuing to encourage me. It makes me feel so special to have him with me, guiding my every step of the way. I feel his support now more than ever before with my music pursuits. I feel him every moment I am creating or performing my music, and I feel so lucky for that.
