The One Eighties Share New Single ‘No King’

North Carolina-based duo The One Eighties have just shared their brand new single No King, a genre defying Disco-Americana song about the demise of an oppressor.

I am really enjoying Autumn Brand's expressive, confident vocals and how they effortlessly capture our attention from start to finish. I have to say that I never heard a Disco-Americana song and I am actually surprised it works quite nicely. The twangy Americana guitars are seamlessly intertwined with groovy beats, funky bass guitar lines, lush disco strings and synths and cool percussive elements that together create an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere.

The accompanying visuals were co-directed by Cook, art-directed by Brand, and produced with the support of Myriad, a Raleigh-based video company, and it beautifully embodies the song's atmosphere and message. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Daniel Cook said,
It was so far afield from the other music we were making that we almost threw it in the trash several times.
Speaking about the video, Autumn Brand said,
We scripted the video before the song was even done. Doing it this way allowed us to finish the song with the video in mind instead of the other way around.
