Hazlett Drops New Single ‘Oh Downhill’

Rising Stockholm based Australian singer and songwriter Hazlett has released his brand new single Oh Downhill, the title track of his new EP out now via Nettwerk Music.

I am a fan of Hazlett's smooth, evocative voice and how it beautifully connects the listeners to his relatable storytelling. Oh Downhill is a song about how many of us tend to go back to things that are bad for us, a sign of how broken our world is. Backing Hazlett's gorgeous vocals we have a dreamy indie-folk production with captivating electronic elements that enhance the warmth of the song. I am particularly fond of the intricate guitar melodies and how hauntingly beautiful his harmonies are.

Accompanying the release, Hazlett has shared a deeply poignant video, directed by Maren Langer, which you can check out below!

Speaking about the song, Hazlett said,

I don’t know what is ingrained in human nature that makes us run back to things that are bad for us, people that don’t like us or compare ourselves to strangers’ lives. When you look back after a moment like this happens it’s so confusing. “Makes no sense why I cared about you”. But in that moment it’s all you can care about and all you can focus on. This song is a little homage to this broken little world we are all trying to swim in.
