The Bergamot Share New Single ‘Breakdown’

Brooklyn based duo The Bergamot, consisting of husband and wife Jillian Speece & Nathaniel Paul Hoff, have just shared their brand new single Breakdown, a lovely indie-pop/rock song about exploring the existential doom we are being barraged with on a daily basis.

What I like the most about the song is how beautiful their vocals fit together, creating lush harmonies that glide effortlessly over the warm production. Breakdown is a song that encourages the listeners to look at the bigger picture and be inspired to live life to the fullest. This message is wrapped around a polished indie-pop/rock production that features cool guitars and steady drum patterns that create an overall warm, laid-back atmosphere perfect for a relaxing weekend.

Accompanying the release, The Bergamot have shared its official music video that beautifully embodies the song's warmth and meaningful message. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, The Bergamot said,
“Breakdown” is a sonic escape exploring the existential doom we are being barraged with on a daily basis. It is vital to remember that we inhabit this world for only a century at best, when the stars have existed for millions of years. Over that span of time the world has been plunged into darkness before. This is not the first generation to be inconvenienced with change and instability. We must seek inspiration and hope from the stars. Remembering that growth is painful but vital - and connects us with generations from the past. Whether it be a global pandemic, world war, continued mental health crisis, increased suicide rates, or global warming - we are amidst a challenging time. "Breakdown" takes the listener from a desperate place of inward focus - to the expanse of the universe around us. The stars around us have seen it all - every moment of history. By remembering this, we can be re-inspired to live to the fullest.
