Mickey Valen & neverwaves Share New Single ‘Falling On Your Sword’
American producer Mickey Valen has teamed up with fellow American singer-songwriter neverwaves to deliver a captivating electro-pop/rock song titled Falling On Your Sword.
Out now via CloudKid, Falling On Your Sword is a compelling blend of dark pop, trap and electronic music about being so wrapped up in a toxic relationship that you lose all sense of reality and truth. This message is beautifully conveyed through neverwaves' expressive vocals which glide effortlessly over the polished production. I am particularly fond of the trap-infused beat, warm rhythms and overall dark atmosphere. The song's infectious melodies instantly got stuck to my head, making me want to come back to it several times and I think you will enjoy this fresh blend of trap/pop elements with a dark undertone. Speaking about the song, Mickey Valen said,
At what point do you give up fighting? When do you throw in the towel and just let someone say whatever they need to say? When someone is so drunk with rage that they no longer see reality, only the distortion their wounds have created. Essentially the song is about being in a toxic spiral with someone where there is such a degree of distortion that reality and truth have become optional, blurred. My favourite part is probably the sword sample at the end of each chorus— it’s so on the nose that it becomes something else entirely. It’s a Kill Bill over-the-top sort of moment that brings some levity to some otherwise heavy subject matter.
