Pikes Shares New Single ‘Second Wind’
Pikes, the moniker of Swedish singer, songwriter and producer Christoffer Ling, has just shared his brand new single Second Wind, a warm indie-pop song out now via ART:ERY Music Group.
I am a fan of his expressive vocals and how they soar effortlessly over the captivating production. Second Wind is a song about feeling low and finally realising that we should appreciate each day and live in the moment and not dwell so much about the past or future. I am someone that tends to be either trapped in the past or looking for the future, not truly living in the present, watching life pass me by instead of truly living it. This message is wrapped around a memorable production that combines synthesizers from the 1980s, sampled drums, and large orchestral soundscapes that create a sound that falls between pop and film music. I'm loving the falsetto and how the song is packed with warm rhythms that make it perfect for a chill day outside. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Pikes said,
“Second Wind’ is a song about feeling low. I felt like I was just waiting for the rest of my life. Working, sleeping & watching series in my couch. As an artist it’s so easy to never live in the moment. You always live in your next release, next concert, next project etc. It’s also very dangerous to rely completely on your surroundings to make you happy rather than it coming from you. Since I wrote this song I have started actively working towards appreciating each day. Feels like such a cliché to say but even if I like all of us have experienced traumatic things this last year. I feel like everything, hurt, heartache, stress, loneliness is so beautiful because it is ALIVE. Everything is beautiful in contrast of, and compared to nothingness, numbness.’
