Jess Chalker Unveils New Single ‘Stupid Trick’

Following the release of her upbeat single Don't Fight It, London-based Australian alt-pop singer and songwriter Jess Chalker has just shared her brand new single Stupid Trick, the latest single to be taken from her forthcoming album, Hemispheres set to arrive on November 5th via her own imprint 528 Records.

I am really enjoying the 80s-inspired vibe of the song that features lighthearted, upbeat touches and lyrics that emote the innocence of young love, like the intense feelings you had as a teenager before learning what love really means. Jess Chalker's lovely vocals beautifully convey the emotion of her storytelling and glide effortlessly over the warm melodies packed with groovy guitar riffs, punchy percussion and cool synths.

This catchy song is accompanied by a gorgeous video which was her first time crafting a short film script. Directed by Marcelo de la Vega, with cinematography by Shane Benson, the visual was shot in London post-lockdown, and inspired by one Jess' favorite places in the city, Postman's Park. It also references cinematic classics including 1956 French film The Red Balloon, Charlie Chaplin and Before Sunrise. Check it out below!
