Sam Tompkins Shares New Single ‘(W)hole’
British singer and songwriter Sam Tompkins has just shared his brand new single (W)hole, an emotionally-charged single out now via Universal-Island Records.
I am loving Sam's powerful, passionate vocals which are packed with raw emotion and instantly connect the listener to his heartfelt storytelling. The first official release from Sam Tompkins in 2021, and the first cut to be taken from his upcoming third EP release, (W)hole is a relatable song about the need to find that human connection that can bring us out of what he beautifully describes as an "ocean sized hole".
This powerful message is wrapped around a polished pop production packed with cool guitar riffs nicely paired with steady percussion and warm atmospherics that enhance the emotion pouring from his gorgeous vocals.
Accompanying the release, Sam Tompkins has shared its official music video, directed by award winning TV/Film director Josef Bates, which is set inside an elevator. A metaphorical deep dive into Sam’s mindscape, it charts his journey from a state of disconnect from hope and the positive side of life, back to happiness but by the end once he finds an escape. Speaking about the song, Sam said,
I think ‘(w)hole’ is sort of a realisation of knowing that not every problem in the world can be fixed by one person,” says Sam. “If there is meaning or purpose to this life, it has to come from being and working alongside one another.
