The Anti-pop Mvmt Shares New Single ‘No Boys Allowed’

The Anti-pop Mvmt, the project of US-based songwriter and producer Ophelia X, has just shared her brand new single No Boys Allowed, a dynamic pop track and fierce statement on female empowerment and the double standards young women face throughout youth.

I am really enjoying 16-year-old Nika's soulful, ethereal vocals which glide effortlessly over t an uptempo rhythm and punchy percussive beats. The Anti-pop Mvmt showcases her producing skills by flawlessly blending classic pop melodies and alt-rock beats alongside woozy synths and samples, creating an overall atmospheric dark pop soundscape adding to the meaning behind the track. I am particularly fond of the cool guitars and punchy percussion that enhance the energy and emotion of her meaningful storytelling. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, The Anti-pop Mvmt (Ophelia) says,

The song which features emerging artist Nika is about female empowerment. It's a contrast to the cliched "boys club". A utopia where teen girls rule. Where they lift each other up instead of tear each other down. It is a commentary on the double standards that teen girls have to follow. For example "follow all their rules cause it's the boys club, I wear a suit jacket to school " it's this line I wrote when a teen I knew told me she got in trouble in school for wearing a tank top that showed her bra strap. The reason behind dress codes for young women are often sent with the message of "your body is a distraction to both our students and faculty”. This is so problematic and dangerous on so many levels. The fact that a young girl is told to cover her shoulders for fear of " distracting an adult male teacher" is extremely concerning to me.” "Anti-pop Mvmt is back with a dynamic pop track and fierce statement on female empowerment and the double standards young women face throughout youth.
