Swedish/American singer-songwriter Clara Strauch has just shared her brand new single Wayward Home, taken from her sophomore album Jupiter, out today, October 16th!
I am loving the song's cinematic and dramatic atmosphere and Clara Strauch's vocals are very powerful and packed with raw emotion. I adore her haunting harmonies and how her vocals soar effortlessly over the captivating production packed with emotive piano chords beautifully intertwined with lush strings. Wayward Home is a heartfelt song about losing one's sense of home and going through grief which is flawlessly enhanced by the dramatic production and Clara's haunting harmonies. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Clara Strauch said,
Over the past years I've created a folk musical called 'Wayward Home'. It's inspired by Noah's Ark, and is about a woman - Anna - who loses her entire life in a flood. Anna sings this song as she floats on the Ark - watching a flooded earth. "Wayward" means "unpredictable" - it's a story of a home that didn't turn out the way you thought it would. But honestly, I didn't write this song for the show. It came out of my own journey as a bicultural artist, during a time when I lost my sense of home and suffered a great loss. I think that grief was too much to sing as "Clara", so I made the character "Anna" and "Wayward Home" in order to express it. And with everything going on in the world today, a drowned earth feels...relevant.
