Grace Davies Shares New Single ‘Amsterdam’
British singer and songwriter Grace Davies has just shared her brand new single Amsterdam, a beautiful ballad taken from her upcoming EP, Friends With The Tragic, out in June through The Orchard/Sony Music.
Produced by Adam Argyle (Dua Lipa, James Bay, Rita Ora) this is a gorgeous piano-based ballad on which the 23-year-old composer, pianist and singer-songwriter showcases her unique voice and soulful delivery to artfully document the human condition. I am really loving how the piano melodies are beautifully intertwined with lush strings which together give the song an epic and cinematic atmosphere that enhance the emotion of the beautifully-written lyrics. Amsterdam is one of those songs that will instantly give you the feels and make you think about life. If you're into piano-based ballads with honest storytelling and gorgeous vocals, then you'll love this song. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Grace Davies said,
Amsterdam is my Jolene. It's incredibly honest. It’s about being so frickin’ in love that it hurts, and you don’t trust that something won't go wrong. Amsterdam touches on jealousy within a relationship and normalises it. Not an unhealthy jealousy, but one that we all feel from time to time, and should allow ourselves to feel - without thinking that we’re ‘crazy’! Of course we may get jealous that the person we love most in the entire world is doing things without us, and of course the thought crosses our minds that we may possibly lose that person to someone else (or somewhere else). We’re human, and I think it’s a beautiful thing.
