Sailing Stones Shares New Single ‘Emmanuel’
Sailing Stones, the project of Bristol-based indie-folk pop singer-songwriter Jenny Lindfors, has just shared her captivating new single Emmanuel, taken from her upcoming debut album Polymnia, set to on April 24th via Keep Her Lit Records!
Polymnia is slow and cinematic, ranging from glossy pop to more experimental production, Sailing Stones skillfully brings her 70s songwriting influences into new ambitious territories. Produced by TJ Allen, the tracks unfold with dramatic, gradual pacing as she explores the theme of consolation in darkness.
Emmanuel is one of the sparsest, and most melodic, tracks off of Polymnia and I am loving its dramatic, yet intimate, atmosphere. I am loving her smooth, warm vocal delivery and how it flows effortlessly over the emotive piano keys. The song's dramatic, tragic sounding vibe really captured my attention from start to finish with her hauntingly beautiful vocals perfectly conveying her fixation on emotional respite in isolation. This is one of those songs that sound perfect for those introspective days home alone with just the right amount of melancholia. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Sailing Stones said,
I found myself in quite a bad place a few years back, quite isolated and muddled up. I had lost the ability to write songs, and read a brilliant book called "The War Of Art" by a compassionately brutal writer called Steven Pressfield. He talked about creating rituals around your writing practise, and calling in the angel and the muse. This song was written in minutes after putting down the book.
