Speaking about the song, Fiona Harte said,
At The Hotel is a very personal song for me and one that I knew I wanted to release as soon as I finished writing it. For me the arrangement and vocal melody really showcase who I am as an artist, showing elements of folk and country music - the genre’s I was raised on. The song tells a story of someone trying to remember the good times of a relationship at a time when it’s very easy to focus on the bad. The running theme is a combination of escapism and reminiscing - thinking about special memories and trying to stay there in your mind. In this case the memory is At The Hotel.
