Colorado singer and songwriter Steve Itterly has just unveiled his stunning new single Great Northern Rains, the first song to be taken from his new EP: House Songs, out now.
If you're a Folk music lover you are in for a treat. Those lush acoustic guitar strums and harmonica set the tone for his distinctive vocals and incredible storytelling. Steve is such a gifted songwriter and he instantly caught my attention from start to finish with his engaging storytelling. Great Northern Rains is a reflection of his struggles after moving from sunny Colorado to the cloudy and rainy Washington State. There's somewhat of a touch of americana in this stunning piece of folk music that enhances the storytelling aspect of his lyrics. I am really enjoying the harmonica and how it fits beautifully with the guitar melodies. Check out this gem below!
Speaking about the song Steve Itterly said,
This song came at a time of transition. I had moved from Colorado to Washington State and felt very trapped by the situation. The Pacific Northwest is a much more cloudy and rainy place than the big sunny expansive dry western rockies. I was having a lot of difficulty adjusting and doubting myself heavily, feeling trapped. So this song is a reflection of these struggles among other observations.
