Katie Blount Readies Debut Album ‘Dark Water’

British Contemporary Folk singer and songwriter Katie Blount is readying her debut album Dark Water which will introduce her artistry and poetic abilities to the world and I've got two gems from this album to share with you.

The American Song and Orion Sky are two gorgeous, acoustic guitar-led tracks that will instantly pull on those heartstrings thanks to its emotive melodies and how Katie sings with depth and meaning.

The American Song has a more upbeat melody when compared to Orion Sky, and has a rhythmic touch thanks to the percussion instruments. Her storytelling is quite hypnotic, instantly capturing my attention from start to finish.

Out of the two songs, my favourite has to be Orion Sky thanks to its melancholic atmosphere and emotive vocal delivery. I am loving how much raw emotion and power Katie delivers in a simple acoustic guitar-based song which goes to show how a gifted singer and songwriter she is. I am a sucker for sad, melancholic songs and this one is right up my alley.

Katie's songs are ones that draw you into the heart and soul of who we are underneath our disguises. Her artistry is carried through into the videos she made for The American Song and Orion Sky. These have been made from many different video clips provided under the creative commons licence. She scours the web for just the right imagery that helps to tell the lyrical story. She then slices them together, creating some very compelling and interesting sequences. Check them out below!

And if that wasn’t enough Katie has also recorded and produced her own album. She built her own home studio and made a vocal booth from an old doctor’s screen she bought on eBay.
