Hazlett Unveils New Single ‘Suncats’
Australian singer-songwriter Hazlett is back with his brand new single Suncats, which follows his introspective single Fireworks. This sun-soaked piece of indie music deals with the moments of post break-up depression and is wrapped by an absolutely addictive production.
Out now on BLNK Music, Suncats is a song on which Hazlett showcases his honeyed vocals and impeccable songwriting skills over intricate guitar melodies which creates a captivating atmosphere, allowing his vocals and beautiful message to soar. I am really enjoying how he finds beauty in the sombre and mundane, bringing a positive touch to a depressive state. This is such a relatable song and I am really enjoying its summery atmosphere which just makes it perfect for those relaxing days by the beach or road trips. Check it out below!
Speaking to the motivation behind Suncats, Hazlett shares:
I was lying on the floor of the studio sulking and strumming my guitar. The sun was reflecting off it and dancing along the wall when my Swedish friend pointed to the reflections and said "what do you call those in English?". I said we didn't really have a word for something like that. He explained in Sweden you call them 'Solkatter' which directly translates to 'Suncats'. That word flipped the switch for me. It took something so simple or unnoticeable and made it poetic. It was like a metaphor that snapped me out of my cliché post break-up depression. Find a little beauty in the mundane and even a little good in the bad. If you do that nothing is ever a waste of time.
