To celebrate the news that his debut album, Nothing Great About Britain, has been nominated for the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize - An Album Of The Year, slowthai has shared his video for new single Toaster.

Serving up a refreshingly candid and brutally honest snapshot of 2019 Britain, slowthai has become the voice of a disenfranchised youth.

Toaster is one of the album’s most poignant moments as slowthai reflects on the highs and lows of his childhood. The accompanying video – unveiled today – adopts a docu-style approach, dynamically moving between part-narrative and part-performance. The video fittingly sees slowthai return to his mum’s first home in Northampton and retrace his old well-trodden tracks around the house and garden, openly sharing memories of his life there. The 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize - Albums Of The Year will take place on September 19th at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo.
