Smoke Season explain that the song came about in the throws of a fiery argument that resulted in one of them exiting the car on a rush-hour filled LA freeway while driving to a writing session. The pair eventually made it to the session, channeled that energy into the song, and had made up before the day was over. Lead singer Gabrielle Wortman said,
We’re not one to shy away from explosive emotions. Let’s just say we’re spirited artists and it keeps our music interesting.

Wolves follows their previous single Sun Kissed, both taken from a slew of new material Smoke Season has written over the past year for their debut full-length album (due out in 2018), which will feature a hotbed of collaborations — including ones with Mix Master Mike, members of Bad Suns, as well as the producers and mixers of Bishop Briggs, Bear Hands, Portugal. the Man and more.
