Vienna-based sibling quartet Wallners have just unveiled their brand new single Movie Stars, a warm and hazy dream-pop gem.
Movie Stars captures the feeling of being left behind as life moves forward, and the world changing in ways that feel distant and surreal. A song that reflects on how times keeps passing regardless of our feelings, and how even the most extraordinary events can't distract us from the people we haven't quite let go.
A song that is beautifully conveyed through Anna’s deep, gentle voice that meets warm guitars before the song gradually opens up, becoming increasingly expansive and weightless, creating an overall memorable and enthralling listening experience.
Speaking about the song, Wallners said,
The stars have always inspired us. There’s something incredibly peaceful about looking up at them, yet they also fill you with a sense of wonder. We’re fascinated by the vastness of the universe and by how absurd life on Earth can sometimes be. By chance, we found some old microphones from the 1960s in our basement while making the song, and somehow that discovery fit the mood of the track perfectly.
The music video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Rupert Höller, transports us into a cosmic world of its own. Together, the band and Höller decided to create the video entirely without AI, relying on 16mm film and other analog filmmaking techniques.
