The Strike Unveil New Single ‘Backslide’

American pop band The Strike have just shared their brand new single Backslide, a dreamy, nostalgia-soaked track about the relationships we know we should leave behind - and the chemistry that keeps pulling us back anyway. 

 

Out now via Nettwerk Music Group, Backslide showcases the band at the height of their songwriting powers by gifting us with a song that feels immediately familiar without retracing old ground, balancing longing, restraint, and pop precision. I am loving those gorgeous, expressive vocals and how passionate the vocal delivery is, soaring brightly over the captivating, 80's-influenced production. Accompanying those gorgeous vocals we have glowing synths, retro-infused drums, soaring electric guitar riffs, sweeping melodies, sun-soaked saxophone and unmistakable emotional pull that make this quite a memorable listening experience that got me to have it on repeat and I think you guys will too.

Sometimes the people we are drawn to the most aren't necessarily the right people for us in the long run. It can be tough to ignore the chemistry and make the rational decision to move on. Even if we do move on, that connection often creates a repeated cycle of breaking up and getting back together. ‘Backslide’ speaks to this dilemma. The song captures how hard it is to actually walk away for good when old feelings keep pulling you back over and over again. Time keeps moving, but nothing really changes. You’re still answering the call and still lying to yourself that this time might be different.
