Clare McKeon Unveils New Single ‘When I Was A Girl’

American singer and songwriter Clare McKeon has just shared her brand new single When I Was A Girl, a raw, delicate country/folk song. 

 

Out now via Clarifornia, When I Was A Girl is a heartbreaking letter from a woman to her younger self, as she watches the innocent girl who dreamed of a fairytale love get slowly worn down by a relationship that turned out to be crushing rather than kind. It's a raw and moving song about growing up faster than she planned and apologising to the girl she used to be. 

 

A raw, heartfelt storytelling that is beautifully conveyed through McKeon's rich, expressive vocals which are accompanied by intricate acoustic and banjo plucks, steady drum beats, lush strings and rhythms that come together to create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere that allows for the raw emotion of her story and vocals to soar.
