First Robin Shares New Single ‘Today I Am A Lighthouse’

First Robin, the musical project of Toronto-based singer-songwriter Alexandra Sullivan, has just shared her brand new single Today I Am A Lighthouse, a meditation on reinvention, self-actualisation, and the courage to surrender control.

Produced by ASCAP and SOCAN Award-winning Joel Schwartz and mastered by Grammy Award-winning Justin Gray, Today I Am A Lighthouse finds the talented artist singing about reclaiming self-worth and learning to stand confidently in your own identity, even while experiencing loneliness and uncertainty. A powerful song about trusting yourself even through the hard moments, Today I Am A Lighthouse showcases First Robin's delicate vocals which are accompanied by a cinematic indie-folk sound with ambient textures, distorted guitar, electronic percussion, and subtle vocoder effects that together create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere.

Speaking about the song, First Robin said,
I feel like I have rebuilt my life over the last year, and while that has been beautiful and miraculous, it has also been super uncomfortable and dysmorphic. ‘Today I Am A Lighthouse’ is about navigating that reinvention, learning to trust myself and the signs of the universe, and finally starting to scratch the surface of my full potential. Needless to say, I am over being one of two passing ships flailing in the night. I am choosing to be the lighthouse standing ten toes down, sending out my beam of light, and trusting that what the wind and waves push my way is what is meant to be.
