American artist GRIM has just shared his brand new single Moonface, a raw and heartbreaking indie-pop song with a cinematic/epic approach.
Goosebumps!! Literal goosebumps this song gave me, and keeps giving me with each listen and I am so excited to share it with you guys. Moonface is a harrowing and deeply moving song about watching someone you love succumbing to a devastating illness, capturing the unbearable guilt and helplessnes of one who feels they are failing someone they swore to protect. A raw and emotionally shattering song about grief that arrives before death and the weight of loving someone who is slowly disappearing.
You can effortlessly feel the raw emotion and pain pouring from GRIM's stellar, dynamic vocal performance which soars passionately over the heartfelt production. I am loving the deep, emotional piano keys and how they song builds up with lush, cinematic, epic strings, thundering beats and explosive rhythms that ebb and flow in pace and energy to match the haunting pain pouring from his vocal delivery. What a masterpiece this is!! Wow!
Speaking about the song, GRIM said,
Moonface is about trying to heal from the trauma of losing both of my parents to cancer, and from the nightmares and memories that still follow me. It uses the medical idea of “moon face” and the phases of the moon as a metaphor for illness, grief, and transformation. The song is not about forgetting that pain, but learning to carry it, face it, and turn it into something that can make other people feel less alone.
